Viola Davis, who won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Tonya in "King Hedley 2", has signed on to star in "It's Kind of a Funny Story" and "Trust", reports Variety.
"It's Kind of a Funny Story" will be directed by Ryan Fleck for Focus Features. The story revolves around a 15-year-old clinically depressed teenager (presumably Zach Galifianakis) who gets a new start after he admits himself to a psychiatric hospital. Davis will star as the psychiatrist who helps him through his problems and regain faith in himself.
"Trust" will be directed by David Schwimmer for Millennium Films. The story is about a 14 year old girl who has been victimized by an online sexual predator who posted as a teenager on a chat room. Davis will play the counselor tending to the girl's case. Clive Owen and Catherine Keener will also be starring as the girl's parents.
Davis received numerous nominations playing Mrs. Miller in a film adaption to the Broadway play, "Doubt". She can currently be seen in "Law Abiding Citizen," which also stars Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. Her forthcoming movie is "Eat, Pray, Love" in which she will star with Julia Roberts.
