Columbia Pictures is in negotiation with Ridley Scott to direct the remake of U.K. miniseries "Red Riding", and Steve Zaillian to write the script. Columbia had earlier acquired rights to the remake.
The "Red Riding" miniseries is an adaptation of English author David Peace's Red Riding Quartet. The story is set against a backdrop of serial murders, and focusing on the multi-layered corruption that went on while investigating the murders.
Variety reports that Scott and Zaillian will also be producing the movie with Andrew Eaton of Revolutionary Films, which produced the series. The former to produce through his Scott Free banner, and the latter through his Film Rites banner. Executive Producer is Garrett Basch of Film Rites.
Previously Scott and Zaillian worked together on the films "American Gangster" and "Hannibal".
