Mark Palansky to direct "Iron Jack"

Mark Palansky has been hired by Sony Pictures to direct "Iron Jack", says Variety.

The Johnny Rosenthal's action-adventure script was grabbed by Sony Pictures for $1.25 million against $2 million, winning a heated bidding war against MGM, CBS Films and Spyglass.

The story centers on a renowned novelist's pursuit of hidden treasure in the 1930s.

Movie will be produced by Todd Garner through his Broken Road Prods. Exec. Producer are George Heller and Jeremy Bell.

Palansky previously received critical acclaim for "Penelope", his directorial debut starring Christina Ricci, Catherine O'Hara and Reese Witherspoon, was critical acclaimed.
