Korean director Kwak Kyung-taek, best known for his 2001 box-office record-breaking movie "Friend," and boxer movie "Champion," is getting ready to direct Korea's first 3D live-action movie titled "The Battle Of Yellow Sea" (working title).

The $16.65million (KW20billion) movie is based on true happenings, where in 2002, the biggest naval engagement between North Korean and South Korean navy since the Korean War occurred.

IM Pictures, the company that previously produced "My Sassy Girl", "Tazza: The High Rollers" and "The Big Swindle," is in collaboration with Ocean Drive Entertainment to produce the 3D movie. IM Pictures' CEO Choi Wan will executive produce.

Production is planned to begin in March 2010, and will be released by the end of 2010.
