Anthony Hopkins is Odin, the father of "Thor"

Veteran Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins ("The Silence of the Lambs", "Hannibal")is set to play Odin, the chief god of the Norse gods in Asgard and the father of Thor, in Marvel Studios production "Thor."

Hopkins will be joining Chris Hemsworth who is playing Thor, Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki, and Natalie Portman who plays Thor's love interest, Jane Foster.

"Sleuth" director Kenneth Branagh will direct the movie from the script written by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz, which tells of a partially disabled medical student, Donald Blake, who learned that he is Thor's mortal alter ego after the discovery of the Thunder God's disguised hammer that enabled him to change back and forth into the Thunder God.

The movie is scheduled be released on the 20th of May, 2011 by Paramount Pictures.
