Chinese martial arts choreographer and movie director Yuen Woo-ping, who is now shooting True Legend (Su Qi-Er), is planning to re-adapt The Smiling, Proud Wanderer (Xiao Ao Jiang Hu), a 1967 Wuxia novel by Louis Cha.

The book has previously been adapted to movies by director Tsui Hark, titled "The Swordsman" in 1991 and the sequel "Swordsman II" in 1992.

According to MonkeyPeaches, Yuen Woo-Ping is looking to cast Takeshi Kaneshiro as the lead character Ling Wu Chung, Zhou Xun as the female lead character Ren Ying Ying and Jay Chou as the villain Dongfang Bubai (Asia the Invincible). Though no signing deal has been made yet.

Shooting will begin in Beijing right after the coming February 2010 Chinese New Year.
