Brendan Gleeson ("Harry Potter" series) and Don Cheadle has come on board director John Michael McDonagh's comedy thriller "The Guard," joining fellow co-stars Liam Cunningham, Mark Strong, Fionnuala Flanagan, David Wilmot, Pat Shortt and Katarina Cas.

McDonagh also wrote the script for the movie that revolves around an unorthodox small-town Irish policeman by the name of Sergeant Gerry Boyle (Gleeson) who joins forces with a straitlaced FBI agent Wendell Everett (Cheadle) to take on the international cocaine-smuggling ring.

Chris Clark and Flora Fernandez Marengo of Reprisal Film are in collaboration with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures to produce the movie.

McDonagh, Cheadle, Lenore Zerman, Tim Smith, Paul Brett, Ralph Kamp and David Nash are executive producers.

Shooting has just started on location in West of Ireland.
