Bonaventura to produce "The Secrets"

After the successful "Transformers" franchise, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura who also produced "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" and the upcoming Angelina Jolie starrer "Salt", has acquired the rights to feature produce Michael Scott's six-part fantasy series "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel."

The series revolves around fifteen-year-old twins Sophie and Josh Newman, as they adventure across several continents with the immortal alchemyst Nicholas Flamel, while being pursued by the evil immortal John Dee.

The first three of Scott's series, "The Alchemyst," "The Magician" and "The Sorceress" were published by Delacorte Press Books, while the fourth book "The Necromancer," will be published on 25th of May 2010. The last two books are "The Warlock" and "The Enchantress."

Scott and Barry Krost will executive produce the movies.

According to Variety, The "Flamel" series rights was bought by New Line three years ago for Mark Burnett to produce. But due to New Line's downsizing by Warner Bros. last year, the "Flamel" rights became available again.
