Kristen Schaal joins Garner's "Butter" carving contest

Actress-writer-comedian Kristen Schaal ("Flight of the Conchords," "Circus of the Freak," "Shrek Forever After") has joined Jennifer Garner's comedy feature "Butter," starring alongside Garner, Yara Shahidi "Imagine That", Hugh Jackman, Alicia Silverstone, Ashley Greene, Rob Corddry and Ty Burrell.

The movie, a co-production of Jennifer Garner's Vandalia Films, Michael De Luca ("The Love Guru," "Brothers") and The Weinstein Co., was written by Jason Micallef, and will be directed by Jim Fields Smith "She's Out of My League."

Movie is about an 12-year-old adopted girl (Shahidi) who discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman (Garner) in their town's annual butter-sculpting contest.

No words on which character Schaal will play in the movie which Jackman plays an old boyfriend of Garner's character, Silverstone plays the adoptive mother of the teen girl played by Shahidi, Ashley Greene plays the step-daughter of Garner's character.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in Louisiana later this month.
