Hayley Atwell plays Peggy Carter in "Captain America"

Hayley Atwell ("Brideshead Revisited," "The Duchess") has joined Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan in Marvel’s "The First Avenger: Captain America."

Atwell will star as Captain America's love interest, Peggy Carter, who is an American spy who falls in love with Captain America as the two fight together against the Nazis during World War II.

Chris Evans plays the star-spangled superhero Captain, and Sebastian Stan plays his sidekick, Bucky Barnes.

Movie will center on Steve Rogers, a sickly young man who was enhanced to a perfect human weapon by an experimental serum, to aid the United States war effort against the Nazis.

Joe Johnston "The Wolfman" will direct from the script written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard will co-produce the feature. David Maisel, Stratton Leopold, Louis D'Esposito and Stan Lee executive produce.

Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer in England.
