James Bond star Daniel Craig is in negotiations with DreamWorks and director Jon Favreau to star as Jake Johnson, the leading role in "Cowboys and Aliens," replacing Robert Downey Jr. who had earlier exited the project.
While they are still in early talks, chances are high that Craig will finally accept the role, as he has appeared in DreamWorks movies twice before, in Steven Spielberg's "Munich" and "Road to Perdition."
The movie is based on the 2006 graphic novel series created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, which is about the Apache Indians and Western settlers who lay their differences aside and teamed up against an alien species that lands in their city with bad intentions.
Jon Favreau will direct the movie from the script written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. The movie is scheduled to be released in June 24, 2011.
