Chris Rock to remake France's comedy "La premiere etoile"

Chris Rock has acquired the English-language remake rights to France's "La premiere etoile," which he will write the script and also produce.

The 2009's "La premiere etoile" centers a husband with three children who throws responsibility out the window by drifting aimlessly from job to job and frittering most of his money away on gambling. In an effort to please his disgruntled daughter, he spontaneously agrees to take the family on vacation, little realizing the difficulties that this will wreak.

In March last year, Mars Distribution released "Etoile" which was directed by Lucien Jean-Baptiste, who also took a starring role.

Produced by Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar and Pierre Kubel at the Paris'Vendredi Films, "Etoile" is grossed at 9.7 million euros($13.8 million)in France. It is the 10th highest grossing French film of 2009.
