Story: [8 points]
The Story gets 8 points because it manages to carry from part one very well. Although there are a lot of sequences of events that should have been saved for a future movie. Nonetheless the story grabs you and holds you. For an action/adventure it's very rare to have a decent amount of drama but Transformers 2 manages to pack in just enough drama to keep things tense while still giving you that action that you so love the movie for.
Acting: [9 points]
Shia Labeouf still manages to punch out laughable one liners like in the first one, but knows when to put a serious face on which gives the the movie part of it's dynamic as he is the star of the humans. Josh Duhamel never fails to give a star performance as well as Tyrese Gibson. Kevin Dunn and Julie White who return as the parents of Sam Whitwicky also turn in wildy comedic performances. I only give the movie 9 points, and this is just my personal opinion here, the only one who kills it for me is Megan Fox, who like in the first film trolls through her role like she's sleep walking, putting little to no effort into her performance. But hey, how many of us truly went to see it for the humans?
Level of Action: [10 points]
Wicked action scenes make this movie wildly entertaining especially in IMAX. The transformations in the movie are another big part of the film's dynamic and they didn't fail to deliver. With the addition of new robots on both sides made the final scenes of part one look like spoiled milk compared to the final scenes in this installment, very excellent.
Score and/or soundtrack: [10 points]
Like the first one, the soundtrack doesn't fail on giving the film it's emotion, in every scene. The score is very well composed and conducted and one of the most excellent scores for an action movie I've heard. Linkin Park returning to do a song for Transformers also helped boost the soundtrack.
Overall Movie Enjoyment: [10 points]
I saw this movie in IMAX and it blew me away, from start to finish it made me laugh, cry, and held me firmly to my chair, it's definitely a movie you'll want to add to your DVD or Blu-Ray collection. And of course, the biggest enjoyment of the movie? The Robots. I'd name you a favorite, but who can really pick one? All in all? Awesomely good movie.
The movie is expected to release on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 20, 2009.
Total point score: 47 out of 50
