Robert Zemeckis is set to co-produce and direct the adaptation of Kat Falls' upcoming young adult novel "Dark Life," which The Gotham Group acquired the feature rights earlier this year.

Walt Disney and ImageMovers are collaborating with the Gotham Group on the feature.

The book which will be published by Scholastic in May, is set in an apocalyptic future where rising oceans and natural disasters forced some people to start a settlement on the ocean floor. Story tells of a teenage boy who lived all his life on the ocean floor, teamed up with a dry land girl to uncover a government conspiracy.

Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey, through ImageMovers, are co-producing with Jackie Levine, and Gotham's Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman.
