John C. Reilly has joined Tilda Swinton in Scottish director Lynne Ramsay's "We Need to Talk About Kevin."
Ramsay ("Ratcatcher," "Morvern Callar") also wrote the script based on Lionel Shriver's acclaimed novel about a mother, desperately attempting to understand why her 15 years old son, Kevin, brutally murdered seven of his fellow classmates, a cafeteria worker and his English teacher in a Columbine-style school massacre, through a series of letters to her estranged husband, Franklin.
Reilly will be starring as Franklin, Kevin's father, while Swinton will star as Eva Khatchadourian, Kevin's mother. The cast for Kevin has not been announced.
Jennifer Fox and Independent’s Luc Roeg are co-producing the movie. BBC Films' creative director Christine Langan and Paula Jalfon developed the movie, and both also executive producing with Steven Soderbergh.
