Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("(500) Days of Summer," "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra") will be starring in a lead role opposite Seth Rogen in comedy formerly titled "I'm With Cancer," replacing James McAvoy who dropped out due to personal reasons.
The Summit/Mandate's now untitled feature also stars Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anjelica Huston and Philip Baker Hall.
Rogen said in a statement, "It's incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone's control have taken James away from the project, but, with James's blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the role of Adam. We all look forward to working with James in the future."
Jonathan Levine "The Wackness" will direct from Will Reiser's script, based on true experiences of Reiser who was successful in his fight with cancer during his mid-20s.
Gordon-Levitt will star as the lead character Adam, who learns he has cancer and successfully battles the disease over several years.
Rogen is producing alongside Evan Goldberg and former "Daily Show" exec producer Ben Karlin, while Reiser is exec producing with Mandate Pictures president Nathan Kahane.
Shooting which already begun in Vancouver last month when McAvoy left, will resume next week.
