Oscar winning Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky "The Counterfeiters" is in talks to direct Phoenix Pictures' period horror "The Last Voyage of the Demeter."

Bragi Schut "Season of the Witch" wrote the script 10 years ago, based on Bram Stoker's "Dracula," which is about the merchant ship, Demeter, that carried Dracula's coffin from Transylvania to England, only to wash up on the shores of England with no crew and a dead captain lashed to the steering wheel.

Told through the captain's log, starting off with descriptions of an uneasy feeling among the crew that there's a presence on the boat, into varying increasing degrees of paranoia as members of the crew disappear.

Phoenix's Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer and Bradley Fischer are producing, while Chris Bender and JC Spink executive produce.
