VarietySamuel L. Jackson will be starring in an adaptation of a nonfiction bestseller novel "Same Kind of Different as Me", written by Ron Hall, Denver Moore and Lynn Vincent. Roderick and Bruce Taylor "The Brave One" wrote the scripts for the movie version.
Jackson will play the role of Denver Moore, a homeless drifter who make an unlikely friendship with Ron Hall, a white, wealthy, international art dealer.
Ralph Winter will produce through his 1019 Entertainment with Veralux's Mark Clayman and Jennifer Gates. Jackson is also the executive producer along with Brad Reeves, Susana Zepeda and Todd Shuster.

Variety'24' director takes on first studio featureDreamWorks is revving up again on "Motorcade," setting as director Jon Cassar, best known as co-executive producer and a prolific helmer of the Fox TV drama "24."
The studio hopes to get the picture into production by late summer or early fall 2010, and DreamWorks is eyeing Ryan Reynolds to play the disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the U.S. president is kidnapped in New York.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing.
Billy Ray continues to work on a script that was originated by Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell.
The drama has been a priority for DreamWorks and was one of the projects Tom Cruise seriously considered when "Live Free or Die Hard" helmer Len Wiseman was attached.
Reynolds, who will next star in the Martin Campbell-directed "Green Lantern" for Warner Bros. next spring, has not signed on at this point.
Though Cassar will be making his first big studio feature after a TV directing career, he's a strong match for the material. He directed 59 episodes of "24" and the spinoff telepic "24: Redemption" but left the show to pursue a feature career.

VarietyAdrien Brody's excellent performance in "The Pianist" won him an Oscar. And now he's fighting Predators, Schwarzenegger style?!
No kidding! Adrien Brody has been cast to lead the human mercenaries against "Predators" in the 20th Century Fox reboot of the franchise, playing the role almost similar to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 "Predator" version, reports Variety.
Other casts of the movie included Danny Trejo, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Louiz Ozawa.
Nimrod Antal will be directing the movie produced by Robert Rodriguez, which will start filming in Hawaii and at Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. Fox has set "Predators" for release on July 9, 2010.

"Kaboom," which follows the sexual awakening of a group of college students. Araki is shooting the indie feature now.
Araki, repped by Untitled Entertainment, is the director of "Smiley Face," "Mysterious Skin" and "The Living End."
Repped by APA and Untitled, Mesquida has appeared in "The Last Mistress" and "Fat Girl." This will be the French actress' American feature debut.
Dekker, repped by ICM and the Schiff Co., starred in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and recently appeared in the feature "My Sister's Keeper." He next appears in the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," releasing in April.
Lynch, repped by Talent Works and Crestview Entertainment, appeared on Showtime's "The L Word" and in the features "Charlie's Angels" and "Road House."
Mara, repped by Gersh and Sanders & Armstrong Management, next stars in "Youth in Revolt," hitting theaters in January, and "Nightmare on Elm Street."

The Basic Instinct actress will appear with Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) and Carice van Houten (Valkyrie) in the project, which will film in the UK and Italy.
"It's about a male prostitute in London who loses the older woman who's been taking care of him, and the call-out agency he's worked for is tired of his behavior and don't want to send him out anymore," Stone told Prestige.
"He goes looking for someone else to take care of him and he keeps trying to come on to [my character]. You think they have legitimately fallen in love, by his behavior and her behavior - until the call-out service starts sending him out again while he's with her. He starts trying to break her down. And it's incredible what they do together: a very, very fascinating journey."
Former The Bill director Anya Camilleri is helming the film from a script by Simon Burke.

Everything is still secret about the project and Skarsgård can not reveal what role he will play.
"They wanted me to sign without reading the script. That I refused to do. Then they sent one to me that was so coded that I could only print one copy," said Stellan Skarsgård to TT spectra.
Some time ago it was said that Stellan Skarsgård's son, Alexander Skarsgård, was on his way to the title role in "Thor." In the end however, it became Chris Hemsworth, known for "Star Trek," who got the job.
Paramount is eying a May 20, 2011 release for Thor. Kenneth Branagh will direct the comic book adaptation, starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore and Samuel L. Jackson.
The epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

The actor has come on board to star in "Reykjavik-Rotterdam," a remake of an Icelandic thriller that has been set up at Working Title.
Aaron Guzikowski, the WME- and Madhouse-repped writer behind Alcon and Warner Bros.' thriller "Prisoners," is penning the script, and Baltasar Kormakur, the WME-repped Icelandic auteur who produced and starred in the original, is attached to helm the English-language redo.
Kormakur controls all remake rights to "Reykjavik."
The plot centers on a security guard and former alcohol smuggler on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is tempted back into illicit business by a dubious friend after encountering financial problems. The original, which Oskar Jonasson directed, is Iceland's submission for this year's foreign-language Oscar race and won five of that country's film awards.
The English version likely will be relocated to other places, filmmakers said.
Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing for Working Title.
Stephen Levinson ("Entourage") is producing via his Leverage banner while Working Title's Liza Chasin and Evan Hayes are overseeing the project.
Kormakur's Icelandic thriller "Jar City" is set up as an English-language project at Overture, with Kormakur on board to produce.
Wahlberg and Guzikowski nearly worked together on "Prisoners," in which the actor was attached to star before producers decided to reconfigure the package without cast. That project, based on Guzikowski's spec, centers on a small-town man who takes matters into his own hands after his daughter is kidnapped.
The WME- and Leverage-repped Wahlberg next appears in Peter Jackson's supernatural drama "The Lovely Bones" and the Shawn Levy romantic comedy "Date Night."
Working Title has several projects in active development and is behind "A Serious Man," the Coen brothers' latest release.

VarietyLONDON -- Music Box Films has picked up U.S. rights to Swedish hit thriller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," which has grossed almost $100 million internationally and has still to open in Germany.
The $13 million pic, the first in the "Millennium" trilogy based on Stieg Larsson's international bestsellers, is slated for U.S. release early next year. It has been sold to 30 territories.
Niels Arden Oplev helmed the pic, which stars Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace. It is produced by Yellow Bird, which also co-produces the "Wallander" TV miniseries, starring Kenneth Branagh.
The next pic in the trilogy, "The Girl Who Played With Fire," has already taken $16 million from four foreign markets.
The third film, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," is in post-production and will be released this year.
Yellow Bird is part of Zodiak Entertainment, which is handling international rights to the "Millennium" trilogy.
